Poacher 2022: Best of Fest!

Over the course of a week, the newspaper team at Poacher 2022 created five issues of Best of Fest – distributed to participants across the jamboree Monday-Friday – as well as plenty of online-only content available at blog.poacher.org.uk.

The newspapers have also been uploaded to Issuu, so you can check out our work there if you’re interested.

I didn’t get the chance to write many articles this week as I spent most of my time working on editing and layout. Because of this, most of my writing for the week has gone uncredited, but that doesn’t really matter. I’m still proud to have been able to contribute to something that will have an impact on young people’s lives.

It’s easy to believe that we’re doing something that nobody cares about, that our paper is destined to be nothing more than kindling, but in reality people do care. The enthusiasm of the young people at the arrival of a new issue, or the opportunity to be in the next one, was always a delight, as was the sight of the staff catering hall on a morning, with countless copies of our paper spread across the tables being read.

Thank you, Poacher, for being the Adventure of a Lifetime. See you in 2026.
